Help with Cuth

Cuth is a small app with one simple job: to show you exactly one person a day you could reach out to.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my contacts stored?

On your device, nowhere else. Cuth has no account and stores names, numbers and notes locally only. If you delete the app, that data is gone too.

Are my contact details shared or sold?

No. Not to ad networks and not to anyone else. Your address book is not copied and not uploaded. Your contacts sit on no server, not even ours.

So Cuth records nothing at all?

It does record one thing: an anonymous usage statistic covering which screens are opened and which features are used. That shows us what gets used and where things go wrong. Names, numbers, notes and everything else from your address book are not part of it. If you would rather not, switch it off under Options, section Privacy, using the “Anonymous usage statistics” switch.

Does Cuth read my chats?

No. Cuth only opens WhatsApp, Messages or the phone. What the two of you write, the app never sees.

Why am I not getting reminders?

Check in the iOS settings under Notifications whether Cuth is allowed to send them. In the app you can also set the time under Options and check whether a break is currently active.

Can I add people without granting contacts access?

Yes. You can add every person by hand, with a name and a number.

How do I change a person's rhythm?

Tap the person in your list, and there you set how often you want to hear from each other.

Can I back up my data?

Yes. Under Options, section Privacy, you can create a backup. It lands in the Files app under “On My iPhone” in the Cuth folder, and can be restored from there.

My data is gone, what now?

Since everything is local, only a device backup can help. Please get in touch anyway, so we understand what happened.
